Job posting: Research Assistant - Envisioning Global LGBT Human Rights
ELIGIBLE CANDIDATES: must be York University students
who are eligible for the Research at York (RAY) program.
The candidate will work with the project lead and the project manager on an large International research and documentary film project entitled Envisioning Global LGBT Human Rights; to provide support in research and transcription of interviews. Students will gain experience in research methodology skills, qualitative research, transcription of materials, review of literature, development of knowledge of the current field of sexuality studies, lesbian and gay rights movements and will gain experience working with diverse ethno-cultural communities and marginalized populations.
Specific work will include: transcribing interviews from audio tape, uploading documents to the Envisioning website and creating knowledge transfer materials. Transcription experience preferred with fast accurate typing, (recommended 50 wpm or faster). This work will be done under the supervision of the project manager and the project lead.
Part-time, 10-15 hours a week, for 8-10 weeks during January - April 2012.
$16-18 dollars an hour depending on experience.

- Be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or protected persons.
- Be full-time undergraduate York University students (see chart below).
- Demonstrate financial need (must submit the Student Financial Profile).
- Meet the specific skills and experience requirements set by the sponsoring faculty member.
